Our unique approach to SEN Placements.
Firstly, it is important that we clarify your priorities and make sure we understand your aspirations and the needs of your child; not only academically but also psychologically, socially, emotionally and behaviourally, in order to best support them. If you have copies of reports from your child’s school and any educational or clinical psychologist or other expert, please share those with us to help us see the bigger picture.
We use the initial consultation to help you to understand exactly what it is that you are looking for. We will also have a frank discussion with you about your child’s ability and the likelihood of their being admitted to a mainstream school or, whether they would be better supported in a school with specialist provision.
Many SEN children progress to University or a College of Higher Education and our advice also covers future school or college transfers which is why we call our philosophy “an Education for Life”.
Please note, although we have an extensive and comprehensive database of all SEN schools, we do not make specific school recommendations at this stage.
However, depending on where you are on your child’s educational journey, we can and will advise as to your next ‘best steps’. We will also be honest in terms of whether we can help you immediately by working with you to find a range of schools that will be able to consider your child, or it may be that you may need to have your child assessed in which case, depending on the level of assessment required, we can either offer to provide our own ‘in-house’ assessments, or put you in touch with some of our Associate Clinicians. We work with a number of highly experienced SEN professionals from a wide range of SEN fields, from Educational Psychologists, who can fully assess your child to Education Advocates, who can support you if you are embarking on challenging a Local Authority EHCP funding decision.
Wherever you are on that journey, even if you just want to know what step to take next, just phone us for a free discussion on +44 (0) 1622 813870.
Our service is only complete once your child successfully starts the chosen school, although the relationship is often on-going with our families, as we like to keep in touch to find out how your child is getting on. In many cases families come back to us for guidance on schools for siblings, or for assistance with future stages of their child's education.
Note: We are totally independent; we contact any/all schools that we believe may be an option for you. We don’t limit the search to only a select few as we try to give you a range of potential schools.
If you would like to start a discussion about how to choose the right type of school for your child, please call us on +44 (0)1622 813870
We do charge for our placement service and will be able to discuss this with you after an initial consultation.
